I was born a fish, but it took me a few years before I learned how to float.
So, in the meantime, there were water wings.
To me, water wings spelled freedom.
And freedom equalled power.
With water wings, I didn’t have to wait for someone else to go swimming with me. I didn’t have to stay in the shallows where I could stand. I could be a mermaid, or a motorboat, or a shark.
I was always swimming away from people, because I wanted to swim all by myself.
My heart was ready for freedom, but by body hadn’t caught up yet. I needed the water wings as a tool to support me.
Until the day I didn’t.
It’s such a great reminder.
To this day, I crave freedom and self-empowerment.
I love exploring; I still swim away to see what I can do all by myself, just for the joy of it, for the exhilaration of expanding my vision and my boundaries.
And, I’ve learned that sometimes, I still need support. My heart is often bigger than what I’ve prepared myself for. Sometimes, thinking that I should be able to do it on my own just keeps me stuck.
Cue the water wings.
Except now, “water wings” come in the form of a variety of tools: mentorship, coaching, encouraging friends, actively practicing ways to stretch myself in mind, heart, and body.
Over the years, I’ve developed a whole tackle box of creative exercises, rituals, and words to power myself up. My present day water wings.
I’ve also learned that as much as I love the freedom of just doing it on my own, the exhilaration is amplified when I swim back and share what I’ve learned with someone else.
Guess what I saw on the other side of the pond!
Guess how I got myself there!
Guess what I’m gonna explore next!
Of course you can, too!
Here, use my water wings!
That’s what I love to do these days—share my water wings with others who, like me, are looking at the far side of the sea, wondering how to get there.
Wondering how to self-empower to make the journey across.
The power comes from you, of course.
Victory is on the other side, and she’s waiting for you.
Victory doesn’t care if you need water wings to get there or if you can do it one-handed with your eyes shut—all she wants to do is celebrate with you.
And so do I!
I so want you to get to whatever it is you’ve set your sights on. That is so worth celebrating! That is the stuff of your own personal legend.
There’s a reason so many super heroes can fly—some of them have invisible water wings.
So, my friends, if you find yourself feeling disempowered or stuck, wondering how to dive in, let me know and we can peek into the tackle box together. There’s all sorts of stuff to explore.
Have fun, and power up!
