INLET
I invite you to step through this portal and experience your inner landscape. This is the deep inhale, the expansion inwards—not out. This portal creates itself as it opens. Choose to open from the inside out, and the gifts of the portal will be revealed.
Portal II is my most intricate piece to date. It is a large mosaic with glass tiles of muted lavender and heather plum, light turquoise blue larimar stones, bronze slate, and two chunks of purple amethyst at its heart. The dark “vignetting” is comprised of deep violet and cobalt glass, and India ink blue tesserae shot through with metallic bronze flecks which beautifully tie in the bronze slate. Strands of mirrored tile—an element I repeat in many mosaics—connect to whatever they reflect, linking the neuro-cosmic matrix.
Please note that because of the nature of glass and stone, this mosaic looks very different depending on the light—just like nature, and just like us. The beautiful inky colors of the glass glow through when light shines on it; in locations with less light, it appears darker and more muted—veiling her secrets, inviting you in for a closer look.
This is the perfect piece to appreciate the observer effect—as you move, it changes. The way the light plays on the tiles and illuminates different currents of energy is part of its magic—a beautiful reflection of our own.
